On Saturday 5th August 2023, Plus size Fashion Fest Africa had its 4th edition titled: The Womanhood Xperience, event in London. The edition simply a celebration of womanhood had speakers who represented the different spectrums of modern day woman such as; motherhood, parenting, business, career and dream chasing.
Rachel Bashabe who's the first Ugandan designer to showcase at London Fashion Week spoke about her journey in the fashion industry, shared detailed and thorough expertise knowledge that was encouraging to the audience as well tips on starting your own fashion business. The designer of Veryl Designs fashion house also demonstrated one of her latest artwork to the audience during her speaking session.
Travel discounts, check! Getting paid for your content, check! Girls trip to Ghana, check! Um not quite sure on the girls trip to Ghana but our girl certainly left no stones untouched with her submission. Tillyah shared her travel experiences around the round, getting discounted airline tickets and hotel stay deals, how to monetise from affiliate marketing, your content, getting paid for your worth and having the audacity to say no or when to raise your value. 'Audacity' is word that left us inspired and which we are carrying with us henceforth. Let us affirm you that we are operating in our season of audacity so don't be surprised when you see one of our events across the pond.
Lorraine gave us insights on how we should see our future goals and not just immediate goals. During her presentation, Lorraine gave the audience a scenario exercise which was about discovering whether we are comfortable or happy with our jobs. She made us realise that most of us have more than one job. Lorraine further delved into her multiple jobs here in the UK and Ghana which are bringing her income.
Tinuke talked about the list of Black British content creators which she created and has enabled content creators like Tillyah Canoville to be easily found and booked. She also shared her experiences of being a public speaker and what it takes for one to appear on big platform media houses like: ITV or BCC. She emphasised networking with intentions of being seen and heard have attributed to her career.
Being a mother Tinuke also talked being able to find the balance between motherhood and career.
Woman of Elegance, Vivienne shared her testimony on her upbringing and how it supported her to become the woman that she is today. Vivienne carried herself like the true woman of elegance and also talked about how she grew her social media platforms to big numbers, especially her YouTube channel which has over 300,000 subscribers.
The host of the event, Doreen N was adorned in her brand colour, fuchsia. She hosted the event with professionalism, decorum and confidence.
She Shared tips on how to follow your passion, purpose and profiting from it. Doreen accentuated that passion and purpose both might not always pay you for a long while but they keep you motivated and sustained and you will have to be patient most especially if it's part of your 'WHY'.
